Everything You Need to Know About Blade Flags
Blade Flags in Dubai — Maximum Print Area Outdoor Flags
When you need the largest possible printed area on a single pole, the blade flag is the answer. Its rectangular profile with a straight top edge carries roughly a third more usable graphic than a teardrop of the same height, which makes it the format of choice for detailed messaging, price points, product photography, and sponsor lock-ups. PrintStack, a division of Forton General Trading LLC, manufactures blade flags for event promoters, retail groups, automotive dealerships, and government campaigns across the UAE.
Engineering and Construction
A blade flag is engineered around a horizontal top arm that holds the leading corner out from the mast, keeping the whole panel presented to the viewer. We build the arm and lower sections from anodised aluminium and the upper mast from graded fibreglass, so the flag flexes in gusts and returns to shape instead of snapping. The fabric sleeve is stitched with double-needle lockstitch, the corners are bar-tacked, and the tail carries an elasticated tensioner that keeps the trailing edge from flapping itself into an early failure. Base choices cover water-fillable cross bases, cast-iron plates, ground spikes, and vehicle-tyre bases for car parks.
Printing, Fabric and Colour
Blade flags are printed by dye-sublimation on 110gsm polyester as standard and on 115gsm blockout when double-sided artwork must be independent front and back. The straight geometry of the blade shape allows tighter typography than curved flags, so we can hold smaller text, QR codes, and phone numbers legibly. Our prepress team supplies a dimensioned proof showing the exact live area, the sleeve allowance, and where the top arm crosses the panel, so nothing important is lost behind hardware.
Where Blade Flags Work Best
Blade flags line the approach roads to festivals and exhibitions, mark sponsor activations at Expo City and Dubai Sports City, and stand outside showrooms carrying model names and finance offers. Because the format holds a long portrait composition well, it also suits wayfinding: registration, parking, entrance, VIP. Hotels use them for seasonal promotions on driveways, and community retail uses them for weekend markets. Kits pack into a padded carry bag under 8kg, which means one person can deploy a run of ten flags in half an hour.

Artwork, Proofing and Design Support
Most problems with printed blade flags start in the artwork file, not on the press. Our studio prepares every job to a production template that accounts for hem allowance, sleeve or header intake, seam placement, and the safe area where nothing critical should sit. If you supply print-ready vector artwork we will check it and return a dimensioned proof; if you supply a logo and a brief, our designers will lay the flag out for you, and that design work is included in the quotation rather than billed separately. We work in CMYK with Pantone spot references for brand colours, and we will tell you honestly when a Pantone cannot be hit exactly in dye-sublimation so you can approve the closest achievable match rather than being surprised by the delivery. Photographic images are checked for resolution at final size, and we will flag any asset that will not hold up when enlarged. For clients running a family of products, we keep your approved files on record so repeat orders and seasonal variants match the originals exactly.
Durability in UAE Conditions
The Gulf is one of the harshest environments in the world for outdoor print. Surface temperatures on an exposed forecourt regularly exceed sixty degrees, ultraviolet levels are high for most of the year, coastal humidity and salt attack metal fittings, and shamal winds carry abrasive sand that scours fabric and fades cheap inks in weeks. We specify accordingly: UV-stable sublimation inks rather than direct-print pigment, knitted and woven polyester rated for continuous outdoor exposure rather than indoor display fabric, UV-resistant stitching thread, and anodised, powder-coated, or stainless hardware rather than bare mild steel. We also give realistic service-life guidance instead of optimistic marketing claims, so you can plan replacement cycles and budget for them. Where a client needs maximum longevity we will recommend a heavier fabric and explain the trade-off in how the flag flies; where a client needs a flag for a single weekend we will not oversell a specification they do not need.
Care, Storage and Reuse
Blade Flags last considerably longer when they are looked after. Rinse dust off with fresh water before it grinds into the weave, wash at thirty degrees with a mild detergent and no bleach or fabric softener, and air-dry in shade rather than in direct sun or a tumble dryer. Store fabric rolled rather than folded where space allows, because permanent creases in a flag are visible in photographs even after it has been flown for hours. Inspect hems, grommets, and stitching at the end of each deployment and repair small failures immediately; a two-centimetre split at the fly edge becomes a shredded flag in a single windy afternoon. Hardware benefits from the same attention — check collar locks, base bolts, and swivel clips before each use, and rinse salt off any component that has been near the coast. We supply carry bags with most systems and can quote replacement fabric separately so you reuse the hardware you already own.
Ordering from PrintStack
Ordering is straightforward. Send us your artwork or a brief, tell us the quantity, the site, and the date you need delivery, and we will return a written quotation with a dimensioned mockup. Minimum order quantities are low — a single flag for a small business, or tens of thousands for a national campaign — and unit pricing improves at volume with clear break points so you can see what the next tier is worth. Standard production is three to five working days after artwork approval, with same-day and next-day options available for urgent requirements; tell us the deadline at enquiry stage and we will confirm what is realistic rather than promising and then missing it. Physical pre-production samples can be produced for large programmes. Delivery is free within Dubai and available across all seven Emirates, with GCC shipping arranged on request.
Why Clients Choose PrintStack
PrintStack is a division of Forton General Trading LLC, and we produce blade flags alongside a complete range of signage, exhibition, textile, and print products. That matters when a project needs more than one item: the same team can supply your flags, your roll-up banners, your backdrop, and your branded merchandise with one point of contact, one colour standard, and one delivery. We keep production in-house so we control quality and lead time rather than passing your deadline to a subcontractor. We quote clearly, we tell you what a specification will and will not do, and we support what we sell after it leaves the workshop.
