Everything You Need to Know About Paper Cup
Custom Printed Paper Cups in Dubai — Branded Disposable Cups by PrintStack
A paper cup is held in the hand for the length of a coffee, which in most offices, cafes, and events is longer than almost any other piece of branded material a customer or guest will touch that day. Unlike a business card or flyer that is glanced at and set aside, a cup stays in view and in the hand throughout the interaction, making it one of the most cost-effective branding surfaces available to a food and beverage business. PrintStack, a division of Forton General Trading LLC, manufactures custom printed paper cups for cafes, restaurants, hotels, corporate offices, and events across Dubai and the UAE.
Cup Materials and Constructions
Standard paper cups are made from food-grade paperboard with a thin polyethylene lining on the interior surface that makes the cup liquid-resistant without the paper itself becoming saturated or soft. This is the construction used for the vast majority of hot and cold beverage cups in the market and is fully compliant with UAE food-contact packaging requirements. For clients pursuing sustainability commitments, we also supply PLA-lined cups, where the interior barrier is made from a compostable plant-based material rather than conventional polyethylene, and double-wall cups, which use two layers of paperboard with an air gap between them to insulate hot beverages without requiring a separate cardboard sleeve.
Ripple wall cups, which have a corrugated outer layer bonded to a smooth inner cup, offer a similar insulating benefit to double-wall construction with a distinctive textured grip that many specialty coffee brands favour for its tactile branding opportunity. Cold cups for iced beverages and smoothies are produced in a heavier, non-absorbent paperboard or clear PET, with matching flat or dome lids and straw-compatible openings.
Sizes Available
We produce paper cups across the full range used in UAE food service: 4oz and 6oz cups for espresso and tasting portions, 8oz for standard coffee and tea service, 12oz and 16oz for regular and large hot beverages, and cold cups from 12oz through 22oz for iced coffee, juice, and soft drink service. Custom sizes outside this range can be produced for larger volume commitments, and we will advise on the size that best matches your beverage menu and portion pricing.
Printing and Branding Techniques
Paper cups are printed flat before being formed into the cylindrical cup shape, which means artwork must be laid out on a die-line template that accounts for the side seam overlap and the curve of the finished cup. Flexographic printing is the standard method for cup production, offering excellent colour consistency across large runs and support for up to six spot colours plus a base white, which is more than sufficient for most brand identities including gradients and photographic elements when built correctly for the flexo process. Digital printing is available for shorter runs and for cafes that want to change seasonal designs, promotional messaging, or limited-edition artwork more frequently than a flexo plate investment would justify.
Full-wraparound designs that cover the entire cup surface are popular with specialty coffee brands and give the strongest shelf and hand-held branding impact. Simpler single-logo designs on a plain coloured base are common for corporate offices and quick-service outlets where cost per cup is the priority. We Pantone-match brand colours on the printed cup stock and can produce cups in a solid brand colour base with reversed-out white logo detailing for a bold, high-contrast look.
Lids, Sleeves, and Accessories
Matching branded lids, corrugated cup sleeves for single-wall hot cups, and branded stirrers can be produced alongside your cup order to complete the presentation. Cup sleeves are a cost-effective way to add branding to a standard unprinted single-wall cup where budget does not stretch to a fully custom printed cup run, and are worth considering for cafes with lower monthly volumes that still want a consistent branded presentation at the counter.
Use Cases Across the UAE
Specialty coffee shops across Dubai's café districts use fully branded double-wall or ripple wall cups as a core part of their in-store and social media identity, since the cup itself is frequently photographed by customers. Hotel food and beverage outlets order branded cups for in-room coffee service, lobby cafes, and banqueting coffee breaks. Corporate offices order branded cups for pantries and client meeting rooms as an inexpensive extension of their workplace branding. Event organisers and conference caterers commission short-run branded cups for coffee stations at exhibitions across DWTC and ADNEC, and quick-service restaurants use printed cups as a primary takeaway branding touchpoint that travels with the customer well beyond the outlet.
Ordering, MOQ, and Lead Times
Minimum order quantities for flexo-printed cups start at 10,000 pieces per size and design, reflecting the plate and press setup cost, with significant unit price improvements at 25,000, 50,000, and 100,000 pieces for cafes and hotel groups ordering regularly. Digitally printed cups are available from 2,000 pieces, suiting smaller cafes, seasonal designs, and events. Standard production is seven to ten working days after artwork and die-line approval for flexo runs, and five to seven working days for digital runs. We supply a flat artwork proof mapped to the cup die-line and, for larger commitments, a physical formed sample cup so you can check how the design wraps and reads once the cup is assembled.
Artwork Guidance
Cup printing requires artwork built specifically to the cup's flat die-line rather than a simple logo drop, since the design must account for the curvature of the finished cup and the seam where the two edges of the flat sheet meet. We provide die-line templates for every cup size we produce and recommend keeping critical logo elements away from the seam area and the top and bottom rolled edges, where print can be slightly compressed during forming. Vector artwork files are preferred for logos and text to keep edges sharp at the cup's finished size.
