Kraft Grades and Colours

We stock virgin brown kraft, recycled brown kraft, and white kraft in weights from 120gsm to 200gsm. Virgin brown kraft is the strongest option and gives the cleanest, most consistent colour for brands that want a uniform look across large runs. Recycled brown kraft carries slight tonal variation between batches, which many brands actively prefer for its authenticity, and it carries the highest recycled content for sustainability reporting. White kraft retains the fibre texture and strength of brown kraft while providing a lighter background that lets full-colour artwork reproduce with more punch.

Weight selection follows load. 120gsm suits bakery items, pastries, small cosmetics, and counter-service takeaway. 150gsm is the general-purpose retail weight. 180gsm to 200gsm handles bottles, jars, boxed food, and heavier homeware. For hot food and oily products we can specify grease-resistant liners and coatings that keep the outer surface clean.

Handles and Construction

Twisted kraft paper handles are the signature look and are fully recyclable with the bag itself, making disposal simple for consumers and compliant with single-stream recycling. Flat kraft handles give a slightly more structured appearance. Cotton rope and cotton tape handles are available where a premium contrast is wanted against the brown fibre. Handleless flat and satchel formats are produced for bakery, deli, and pharmacy counters where speed of filling matters more than carrying.

Construction includes a reinforced top turnover, glued side and bottom seams, and creased gussets that let the bag stand square when loaded. Base cards are added on larger formats. We test the loaded bag rather than the empty one, so the rated capacity we quote is the capacity you can rely on in a store.

Printing on Kraft

Kraft is an unforgiving print surface and this is where suppliers separate. The brown base shifts every printed colour towards warm, so a blue printed on kraft without correction will look muddy and a corporate red will read orange. Our prepress team colour-corrects artwork specifically for the kraft stock being used, and we can print a white underbase where a colour must appear true rather than tinted. One- and two-colour logo printing in flexo or offset is the most cost-effective approach and suits the material's character; full-colour photographic printing is possible with the right stock and screen selection.

Foil stamping performs exceptionally well on kraft. Gold, copper, and black foil against brown fibre is a combination that consistently elevates a simple bag into a premium one at very modest cost. Blind embossing and debossing also work well, using the fibre texture rather than fighting it.

Sizes and Formats

We produce kraft bags from small 12x16cm pharmacy and jewellery sizes through to large 45x35cm retail and grocery formats, with gussets sized to the product. Bottle bags with internal dividers, tall wine and spirits formats, flat satchels, block-bottom grocery bags, and food-safe pastry bags are all standard.
